Nutrition: The Truth
About Drugs and
AlcoholAlcohol:
You know that it’s not good to get
drunk and all, so I’m not going to go there… Let’s talk
about nutrition. Alcohol converts into sugar in your body
and it kills brain cells. It’s also very high in calories.
The general rule with things like this is: If it isn’t
healthy and doesn’t benefit your body, don’t put it in!!
Smoking and drugs:
Yes, I’m lumping them into the same
category. These two things are immensely unhealthy for your
body. Besides the fact that you will, most likely, kill
yourself with them (one slowly and one quickly), it goes
back to the same rule: If it isn’t healthy and doesn’t
benefit your body, don’t put it in!!
Remember, you are trying to be the
most successful person that you can be... This is an
enormous time for growth and learning in your life...
Alcohol, drugs and smoking will ruin this so don't do it.
But, if you MUST partake in any of
the "party" elements listed above (no, I'm not condoning
here), always be careful... Moderation is the key...
Never drive after (or during)... And NEVER do it the
night before a test! You think math is hard when you
AREN'T hung-over? The next time you are in this state,
just TRY to remember the quadratic formula!
And, of
course, don't do anything right before a test either.
Last semester, I was walking around the classroom during a
test and smelled something that I hadn't smelled since the
last rock concert I attended. Yep, one of my students
REEKED of the stuff. Dang, I could smell her from 5
feet away. I'll bet the students all around her were
catching a secondary buzz off of her fumes. So, how's
she do on her test? She got A's on all my other tests... and
failed that one. She made a very poor decision that day.
And,
hey, if you still don't believe that eating right and
avoiding all the bad stuff won't make a difference in how
you feel, let me appeal to your ego...
You want to LOOK good, right?
That's me on the left. No,
I'm not showing off what a great "hair day" I was having...
Although it was a pretty good hair day and I don't get many
of those. I have SERIOUS hair issues. That pic is me at age 41. Yeah, that's right...
41, baby! And NO wrinkles yet!! I still look
really young because I switched over to eating really
healthy stuff when I was in my early 20's. I've never
smoked, never done any drugs, never drank alcohol.
Smoking, drug and excessive drinking makes you look really
old really fast! |
