Your Sleep Habits:
All-Nighters
Yeah, sometimes pulling an all-nighter
is necessary… I know that a lot of students have to
work a job to pay the bills and this often makes finding
study time difficult… But, trust me on this one… Don’t ever
do all-nighters for studying the night before a test!
I’ve had a ton of students oversleep
my classes because they fell asleep at 5am after studying
all night and were too comatose to hear their alarms. I’ve also had students go completely
blank on tests because they pulled an all-nighter studying
and were just too darn tired to think.
Final exams are a very common time to
pull all-nighters and, then, oversleep the big test.
The killer part on this one is that the semester is over
after that test and there's no time to go back and beg the
teacher for mercy.
The very last day of my fall 2006-2007
semester, after a long day of giving final exams, I went out
to my car to go home... Only to find a very frazzled
and frantic student waiting by my car for me. The poor
kid had overslept his final exam and couldn't find me
anywhere on campus. He was smart enough to find my car
out in the parking lot -- it was the one with the
Coolmath.com bumper sticker. He looked so pathetic
that I took him back into my office and let him take his
final. Unfortunately, because of all the stress of the
day, he went completely blank and failed it. Don't let
this happen to you!
Save the
all-nighters for term-papers that you procrastinated on…
Better yet, don’t procrastinate at all, then there will
never been a need for all-nighters!
